Philosophy of care
Kaylene L. Carter, M.D. graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2008. She then served in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS HOPPER DDG-70 from 2008-2010, deploying to the Persian Gulf and Asia. Following this assignment she obtained a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School before completing a final Navy tour at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific in San Diego, CA from 2012-2015. Following her time in the Navy, she pursued her medical degree at Stanford University, graduating in 2020. She completed her transitional year internship at Reading Hospital before ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, and joined Pocono Eye Associates in 2024.Dr. Carter has a special interest in cataract surgery, implantation of multifocal and astigmatism-correcting intraocular lenses (Toric lenses) and glaucoma treatment, as well as routine eye care and facial botox. Dr. Carter has conducted research in corneal wound healing and is a published author in several medical journals. In her free time she loves spending time with her active duty Navy husband and their two daughters, telling sea stories, quilting, and enjoying the outdoors.Education
